Things I’ve learned working this regen:
- There is NO ONE on the Bay Bridge at 3:30am.
- Not riding home in a carpool can easily double the commute time. Stop and go traffic really stinks if you’re accustomed to the carpool lane.
- There are regularly 2-3 lanes of the Bay Bridge closed at night for maintenance.
- I am a complete dork because of how much I look forward to opening up/inspecting equipment.
- Weekends = optional.
- If someone tells you it will be done at noon, add at least 12 hours to it.
- Just because it was built with X dimensions doesn’t mean it is still anywhere near them.
- Going to bed at 8:00pm is hard.
- Peoples definition of “close enough” becomes less and less near “good” or “correct” depending on how many days you are into the shutdown.
- What platinum tastes like.
- What 30:1 male:female ratio meetings look like.
- Having to be at work before Starbucks opens is cruel, cruel irony.
- These reactors really, really suck.
- Spiders will live in your Nomex.
- Once you discover that spiders will live in your Nomex you will be sure to shake them before you put them on.
- The radio does not work at Starbucks in Point Richmond. You can hear them calling you but they can’t hear you.
- I’m not looking forward to doing this for 1.5 months straight next spring.
- Things break. A lot.
congrats on surviving! It would be weird having to work a SD while living in the real world…I’m not jealous :)
