4th of July, Estes Park

Griffin and I were in Colorado last week for Collin and Sarah’s wedding in Estes Park. It was great to see everyone and enjoy the hot, dry Colorado weather. Griffin flew in the Saturday before the wedding to spend some extra time with his friends and family while I had to work (someone has to pay the bills). I flew in Tuesday after work. The time went by to fast, as usual. We celebrated our birthdays with my family, spent time with all our favorite Colorado people, attended the wedding festivities, and helped clean out a closet in my parents house in preparation for their move.

The 4th of July wedding was beautiful and narrowly escaped being rained-out. Right on schedule, the clouds opened up to torrential rain at 3:15, right before the 4:00 wedding. It poured for 30 minutes and then cleared up to be beautiful and sunny. Once the wedding wrapped up, they finished with pictures and everyone was in the lodge at the reception the skies opened up again and it pour for another 30 minutes. Very lucky!

A storm was brewing and the wind kicked up causing one of the large umbrellas over our table blow over. One of the spokes of the umbrella hit me in the face. It hurt quite a bit and left a good mark. It’s going to take a while the heal up. However, I was very, very lucky; I could have easily been hit in the eye or at the very least, ended up with a beautiful black eye from where I did get hit.  Now I’m left getting weird looks from people at work and having to explain what happened.
