Experienced another excellent “only-in-San-Francisco” event today: the 9th Annual “Bring Your Own Big Wheel Race.”

This annual even occurs every Easter down Vermont Street on Potrero Hill (where we live!) between 20th and 22nd street. Many think that Lombard Street is the crookiest street in San Francisco but it’s not, this section of Vermont is. For years this race was held on Lombarad but recently moved to Potrero.

The premise is show up with your own big wheel bike (yes, the little kids kind) and hurl yourself down this steep street with hundreds of your closest friends… in costume. We didn’t participate but watching was a blast, everyone was having a great time out in the beautiful weather.

Hopefully they can continue to hold the event. They were having issues this year with the city requiring a permit.
