The concert last night went great! Davies was almost sold out!

Not all the songs from New World Waking are in there but most of them are. Oh, and that’s Piper Laurie!

…. and that was only the first half of the concert… the second half included several holiday songs, another guest singer (Kim Kuzma), Jennifer Holliday singing “And I’m Telling You” from the Dreamgirls. (Here’s the YouTube video of the original in case you’re uncultured like me and had to look up this classic song.) We wrapped up with Hallelujah Chorus which was accompanied by a group of “nuns” (chorus members in costume) that had taken a vow of silence in protest of Proposition 8 passing but still wanted to participate in the song so they held up sign cards with the words on them. I’m hoping someone posts a video of them since I wasn’t able to watch their antics (being on stage, playing, and all…) but the audience kept laughing.
